Stories About Autism T-shirt Launch
Love Needs No Words Collection available 6th October - 8th October
Hey everyone. A slight change from the usual longer form post, as I wanted to make sure you were aware of a little project I’ve been working on alongside Spectrum Clothing…
One of the things you look forward to as a parent when your child begins to speak and say their first words is to hear them say “I love you.” You tell your kids you love them repeatedly, and you assume one day they’ll say it back. You take it for granted that the day will come when they say “Dad, I love you.” Or “I love you mum.”
Years ago, when autism was still very new to me, and I was getting my head around Jude and Tommy both being non-speaking, I stumbled across the phrase ‘Love Needs No Words.’
Ever since then, it’s stuck in my head, and I’m reminded of it daily when I’m with my boys. They may be unable to speak, we may have our challenges when it comes to communicating and understanding each other, but one thing that’s always been clear is the love we have for each other. The love they have for those that are close to them, and who play important roles in their lives.
You can see it in their eyes. It shines out through their smiles. Their body language, their happy sounds, their touch. Even though they’ve never been able to say it, to say the word ‘love’ out loud, you just know. You can just feel it.
So, when I started talking with Masen from Spectrum Clothing (who is autistic himself) about potentially creating a Stories About Autism collection, I knew there was only one phrase that was right. Love Needs No Words.
For the last couple of months we’ve been working on this design, and this weekend I’m delighted to announce that our limited collection is now available to order!
We’re both passionate about spreading positive messages about autism and neurodiversity to the world, and I hope with this collection we can. I know from some of the messages I’ve received already today just how much families are looking forward to wearing them. Proudly sharing our message
The t-shirts are label-free, made from organic, recycled sustainable cotton, and manufactured by a FairWear leader. We can ship internationally too.
You can purchase them here until 9 PM on Sunday 8th October.
I hope you like them :-)
I'm so happy to support both of you! I purchased 3 different colors. As a mom to a non verbal son, I feel these words deeply.
